Fuente dentro de los Jardines Murillo. Los actuales Jardines de Murillo, obra del arquitecto Juan Talavera y Heredia, estaban situados sobre unos terrenos que hasta el siglo XIX formaron parte del Real Alcázar de Sevilla, y que más tarde fueron cedidos al Ayuntamiento de Sevilla por el monarca Alfonso XIII a comienzos del siglo XX. Anteriormente conocidos en aquella época como los Jardines.

Murillo Gardens The place where the Murillo Gardens are today were part of the Alcazar gardens at the start of the 20th century. The Mayor of Seville Conde de Halcon convinced King Alfonso XIII in 1911 to give the city the area for a city garden. The city architect Juan Talavera y Heredia was chosen to design the gardens.

The Jardines de Murillo, formerly known as the Jardines or Huerta del Retiro, were part of the Reales Alcázares of Seville until 1862 when they were donated to the city to form part of the extension of the Fair, which at that time was held in the neighbouring Prado de San Sebastián.
